Top Ten Tuesday: Books I'd Love to Read with a Book Club

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new prompt is provided and book bloggers, like me, share their top ten lists.

This week's prompt-
Top Five Books I'd Love to Read with My Book Club

Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

I know, I know. Of course I would pick Gone Girl as a book club discussion choice, but I can't help it! I feel like this is an excellent book with so many "OMG" moments and I would love to talk to someone about it. Also, the ending. Who can't but help the heated arguments that happen revolving around that!

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

I'm aware this may seem like a weird pick that I would want to talk about, but I have had a tough time with this book and have never fully understood the hype. This was one that I picked up because it's always listed as a classic that everyone should read, but I absolutely did not like it. I felt it was depressing and sad and I guess I would like to see if anyone else felt the same.
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

Where to start with this one... The Kite Runner is one of those stories that is a very typical book club pick and has been for years. After reading it, I can see why. The problem I had with this one though is that it was so disturbing and shocking, that I feel like the only reason I would need a book club is to have people to cry to and share my anger with.

The Paris Wife by Paula McLain

I loved everything about this book. The historical aspects of it were spot on and the character of Ernest Hemingway's life was perfect. There were things that happened to the main character, Hadley, that were unbelievable and I would really like talking to people about her choices and decisions.

Defending Jacob by William Landay

I just recently read this but I am so upset I didn't have a chance to read it with a book club. It was a murder mystery at its heart but there was so much more to it than that. Questioning morals. Innocence. Guilt. Unconditional love. I want to have some deep discussions about these topics, but mainly I want to talk about the twists and the ending! I still can't believe this one.

And that's it. I could only come up with five! Make sure you leave your TTT link in the comments :)
