Summary from GoodReads.com:
Before Liz Lemon, before "Weekend Update," before "Sarah Palin," Tina Fey was just a young girl with a dream: a recurring stress dream that she was being chased through a local airport by her middle-school gym teacher. She also had a dream that one day she would be a comedian on TV. She has seen both these dreams come true.
At last, Tina Fey's story can be told. From her youthful days as a vicious nerd to her tour of duty on Saturday Night Live; from her passionately halfhearted pursuit of physical beauty to her life as a mother eating things off the floor; from her one-sided college romance to her nearly fatal honeymoon -- from the beginning of this paragraph to this final sentence. Tina Fey reveals all, and proves what we've all suspected: you're no one until someone calls you bossy.

So, I'm going to be 100% honest about this review- this was the first book I read in 5 months (and it wasn't even the actual book, just audiobook). Dealing with all of the joy that is morning sickness and pregnancy hormones, I went through a rough patch there and did not have the energy to read anything (a very strange thing for me). This book got me through those rough days and helped put a huge smile on my face. I am so happy Tina Fey decided to share her story with us.

Bossypants is the hilarious memoir of Tina Fey's journey to fame, full of the typical self-deprecating and sarcastic humor we are used to from her. She shared many stories of her childhood and family, showing us the choices she made that led her down the path to comedy. I thought it was a huge plus to listen to her narrate these stories as she seemed like she was just sitting across the table from me, joking about her awkward years, poor college years, and really really hardworking years.

I found it extremely interesting to hear about how she began at Saturday Night Live and how she basically only wanted to be a writer when she started there. It was funny to hear the back stories about some of the skits as well as how it works with the writing process, practice, and all of the work that goes up to the live show on Saturday nights. If you are a fan of the show at all, you will be familiar with the skits she talks about, especially when she is approached to play Sarah Palin during her campaign period.

Overall, this was a laugh out loud, tears running down your cheeks, type of book that left me constantly wanting more. I couldn't wait to listen to it at all times of the day and it made the writing that much better to hear it in Tina Fey's voice. Her story, while not life-changing by any means, was funny and worth the time if you are at all a fan of her's. She is a hardworking woman who has kept her sense of humor among all of the craziness, and she didn't even have to be that bossy while doing it.
